Man Accused Of Repeatedly Concealing Stolen Items In Clothes At Wilton Supermarket, Police Say

A man is facing charges after police say he repeatedly stole merchandise from a Wilton supermarket by concealing them in his clothes.

Wilton Police say they were contacted by a representative of Caraluzzi’s Market (920 Danbury Road) in regards to a shoplifting complaint on Monday, June 3 around 7:45 p.m. The representative alleged that a suspect had been repeatedly stealing candles from the store by concealing them in his clothing before leaving the store, police say.

Further investigation and review of the evidence led to the identification of a suspect, Frederic Stanton of Wilton, police say.

Police spoke with Stanton and issued him a misdemeanor summons on Monday, June 3, charging him with sixth-degree larceny. He is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Thursday, June 13.
